Sam is a Senior Associate in our commercial dispute and resolution group in Brisbane. He is a skilled litigator and regularly appears before the Queensland Magistrates, District, and Supreme Courts, and the Federal Court, both as an advocate and alongside counsel as instructing solicitor. He regularly participates in body corporate adjudications, and in commercial dispute resolution procedures such as mediations and arbitrations.
His practice encompasses commercial and corporate litigation, body corporate disputes, and all aspects of corporate and personal insolvency.
Sam attained his law degree with honours at the University of Exeter in the UK, before accrediting his law degree in Australia at the Queensland University of Technology. He obtained his Advanced Certificate in Insolvency from the University of Technology Sydney.
Sam regularly publishes articles on his areas of expertise, with recent publications focused on statutory demands, bankruptcy notices, cost assessment and recovery for body corporate litigation, personal liability for insolvent trading, contempt of court, and defamation and body corporates.
Sam’s approach to disputes is to work closely with his clients to understand their current position, their future aims and objectives, formulate a strategy on how best to achieve those aims and objectives, and to use his experience and skills in litigation and negotiation to work towards those strategic aims and objectives in a timely and cost-effective manner.
His clients include several national entities, ASX top 100-listed companies, multi-national corporations, insolvency practitioners, body corporate lot owners and committee members, Strata managers, individuals, directors and company officers.
