About

Tal assists clients in growing and developing successful businesses. This includes helping with their commercial arrangements from their first lease and shelf company purchase to sale of a well-run and successful corporation.

Tal appreciates that a detailed understanding of his client’s business is essential and that the law must be applied within the realities of a commercial enterprise.

Tal has also done a substantial amount of commercial litigation which has given him a detailed understanding of what is needed to minimise risk in doing business in Australia and around the world. He has negotiated and advised on many private contracts and terms and, having practiced in Canberra, done many deals with Commonwealth departments and agencies. Tal also has experience in the Not-For-Profit space having advised small to very large organisations, including the largest medical, disability and business services organisations in Australia.

In 2016, he was named on the Australasian Lawyer Hot List for his work in technology law arising from his interest and strong practice in digital, web, e-commerce and electronic communications. Tal is a Graduate of the Institute of Company Directors and sits on private and Not-For-Profit boards. He regularly presents on legal developments to industry bodies, clients and at conferences.

Tal recognises the commercial reality in which his clients operate and while he focuses on quality legal advice and practise, this is within the framework of achieving best commercial and business outcomes.

Areas of Expertise

As a trusted advisor to his clients, Tal can assist with all areas of private business law.  When acting in relation to corporate and commercial law, Tal deals with the whole range of business operating agreements; sale of businesses advice and transactions, private mergers and acquisitions; terms and conditions of trade, contract law; corporate structuring and business relationship agreements; corporate governance; intellectual property; sponsorship arrangements; trade practises advice.

Tal also has a strong practice and keen interest in digital, e-commerce and online activity – from the creation of internet and e-commerce based businesses, to drafting of terms and conditions of web use and social media policies, being involved in disputes in relation to “cloud” collapses, dealing with allegations of online defamation and misleading conduct via websites and blogs, theft of intellectual property, claims by the Copyright Agency Limited and a vast range of IT and IP related hardware, SaaS, cloud, IoT, software, ‘click-wrap’, rollout and database agreements.
